Project 9 – A 1960’s Classic
As a child of the 60’s, I was immediately drawn to the character and charm of this solid brick home.
With a feature ceiling in the loungeroom, quality mosaic floor tiles in the bathroom & toilet, and original glass French doors leading to a sunroom, I was determined to highlight the retro feel of this gorgeous home.
We negotiated directly with the seller to purchase this house, which was on a large block in one of Perth’s older, budget suburbs.
It was sold as a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house as, many years ago, a wall had been removed between the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms.
By reinstating the dividing walls, we were able to add value to the home by turning it from a 2-bedroom to a 3-bedroom property.
We retained the retro bathroom; taking a punt that the house would be sold to a first home-buyer who would love the retro character. I’m pleased to say, the gamble paid off.
The old jarrah kitchen was replaced with new, easy-care, gloss white cabinetry.
The yard was tidied up ALOT and the established fruit trees were brought back to life. What a joy to be able to pass this abundant food garden on to someone who will love it for many years to come.
